Sourcing Bathroom Vanities from Turkey: A Buyer's Checklist

For importers and hospitality projects across Europe, Turkey sits in a useful position: close enough for short lead times, inside the EU Customs Union so industrial goods enter duty-free, and home to a mature furniture industry that exports to more than 150 countries. But a first order with an unfamiliar manufacturer carries real risk. The checklist below is what experienced buyers work through before committing.

1. Confirm they manufacture, not just resell

Ask to see the production facility — photos are cheap, a video walkthrough or a live call from the floor is harder to fake. A real manufacturer can talk specifically about their board supplier, their edge-banding line and their finishing process. A reseller deflects those questions.

2. Materials and finish

Bathroom furniture lives in a humid environment, so the substrate matters more than the visible surface. Clarify what the carcass is made of, how edges are sealed against moisture, and what the finish is rated for. For contract and hotel work, ask directly about humidity resistance over time, not just on day one.

3. MOQ, lead time and sampling

4. The Customs Union advantage

Since 1995 Turkey has been in a Customs Union with the EU, which means industrial products — furniture included — enter EU member states without customs duty. For buyers in Italy, Germany, Austria, France and Spain this is a genuine cost advantage over sourcing from outside the bloc. Ask the manufacturer to provide the correct movement certificate (A.TR) so you actually capture it.

5. Communication is a signal

How a supplier answers your first ten questions predicts how they will handle a problem with your third order. Slow, vague or evasive answers before you have paid anything rarely improve once they have your deposit. Clear, specific, prompt replies are the cheapest quality signal you get.
